Test results

When you attend for a test of any kind you will be told how long you should expect to wait for the results. Please bear this in mind and only contact the surgery after sufficient time has elapsed.

Getting your test results

It is your responsibility to contact the surgery after sufficient time and ask for your results.

Once a doctor has reviewed your test results, you can view them:

We have a strict policy regarding confidentiality and data protection. In this respect we will only give out results to the person they relate to unless that person has given prior permission for their release or if they are not capable of understanding them.

Our reception staff are not qualified to comment on results and are only able to tell you that the doctor has marked them as ‘OK’. If you require further information you may be asked to speak to a doctor.

If your test was not requested by the surgery, please contact the provider directly.

How long will my results take?

  • Blood results please allow 3 to 5 days (some results take longer to come back and results will not be given out until all tests are back in surgery)
  • Urine results please allow 5 to 7 days
  • X-rays please allow 7 to 10 days
  • Scans, MRIs, ECGs and BP recordings on average take 2 to 3 weeks
